The 1990’s was a special time in the music industry. Plenty of very famous artists and bands started in the 90’s. There were also new genres popping up that people never heard before such as grunge music, EDM, reggae, and hip hop. One of the most notables was gangster rap. It is a sub genre of music that reflects on the communities within impoverished cities. Some of the most notable artists were Dr. Dre, Eminem, and Snoop Dogg. If it weren’t for these rappers I don’t think that gangster rap would have still been popular today.

Dr Dre is a rapper, hip-hop producer, and entrepreneur who helped popularize gangster rap. He became famous for rapping with the group NWA 1980’s. He than later on started his own recording studio called Death Row Records in the early 1990’s. He then later created Aftermath entertainment and signed 50 cent and Eminem to his label. His most famous songs are “Still Dre”, “The Next Episode”, “Forget About Dre”, and “Nothin’ But A “G” Thang. He has won many awards such as six Grammy awards, an MTV music award, and many more. All together he has won over 12 awards. Personally I don’t think he is as good as they say, but his beats are pretty good. He is a hero in many people’s hearts and will be remembered for a long time.
Snoop Dogg, I mean it’s Snoop Dogg. American rapper and songwriter who became one of the best artists in rap in the 1990s. He was first signed by Dr Dre in the early 1990s. He first debuted on Dr Dre’s solo Deep Cover and then later on the album chronic. He featured in the hit singles “Dre Day” and “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang” which helped increase his fame. His first album “Doggystyle” was a huge success topping the charts and putting his name up there. He had a lot of other famous songs like “Drop It Like It’s Hot”, “PIMP”, “Gin and Juice”, and “Who Am I”. His involvement in crime delayed his music career but he still kept making music. He later released the album “Doggfather” which didn’t do as well as his first. Snoop Dogg has featured in many other songs and albums in his career and had many acting roles.

He goes by many different names, but you know him as Eminem. He had a very rocky childhood repeating 9th grade three times. He released his first album in 1996 called “Infinite”. It did horribly but that didn’t stop him from rapping. He gained the attention of Dr Dre in 1997 when he came in second in the Los Angeles Rap Olympics. He made his second album in 1999 called “Slim Shady LP”. The album sold millions of copies and feature one of his most notable songs “My name is”. He also created many other hit songs such as, “Lose yourself”, “The Real Slim Shady”, “Stan”, and “Without Me”. Eminem’s rap career was very successful and he will be remembered as one of the greatest rappers of all time.

These artists all are legends and hold a place in everyone’s hearts. After watching the Superbowl halftime show featuring these rappers I was overwhelmed with joy. The combination of these rappers as well as a couple of others was amazing. To see them bring back their music after all this time was crazy. The 1990’s will be a time that will not be forgotten. It gave birth to so many artists and genres. It is crazy after all these years gangster rap still exists in todays music. Only two of the artists are still making music but that didn’t change a thing. Their music will continue to inspire so many people and live in the minds of people forever.
