Finally, UK grime star Stormzy is coming to Melbourne – Beat Magazine

Originally set to take over Australian stages in 2020, the rescheduled dates for Stormzy’s tour have been announced for December this year. Stormzy’s Heavy is The Head tour will feature tracks from his second studio album of the same name – an album that reached number one in the UK album chart and was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize.

Known for his fierce wordplay, Stormzy blends his influences of UK grime and R&B into a truly unforgettable and explosive mix. With the prolific grime artist returning to Australian shores for the first time since Splendour in the Grass five years ago, Stormzy’s tour comes after a prolonged hiatus for the artist.

Along with making history as the first black British solo artist to headline Glastonbury, Stormzy is known for his social activism and philanthropy. He founded #Merky Books in July 2018, an imprint within Penguin Random House UK that aims to challenge the mainstream by publishing voices from untraditional spaces. He also announced ‘The Stormzy Scholarship’ in August 2018 – an annual scholarship that funds black British students’ education at the University of Cambridge.
With new music on the horizon, this tour isn’t one to miss. If you bought tickets for the 2020 tour they’re still valid for this year’s show, but if you haven’t make sure you get in fast because the remaining spots are guaranteed to fill up fast.
