Fresh from a spectacular performance on the main. stage at Lambeth Country Show, the Brixton Chamber Orchestra (BCO) begins this year’s free summer estates tour at Myatt’s Fields bandstand this afternoon.
Another 11 one-hour concerts across Brixton, Stockwell, Tulse Hill, Streatham, Clapham, Kennington, and other parts of Lambeth will follow.
The location of the final event will be decided by the community on social media over the next few weeks. Follow BCO on Twitter and Instagram to cast your vote for where in Lambeth you want to see the orchestra close out the tour.
As at the country show in Brockwell park, the 22-piece BCO will be playing music from grime to classical, disco to swing, and everything in between with special guests rapper Yezzi Yezzir, and gospel singers Cartell G-Brown and Leon Jacques.
All concerts will be outdoors in safe and friendly community spaces with open mic section at the end of every show. “Audience participation – singers, dancers, rappers and poets of all ages – are welcome,” says BCO.
