It is the battle of the greats. Glastonbury vs Coachella. Both attract a staggeringly good line up with tickets selling instantaneously; securing a place at one of these festivals is like acquiring gold dust.
But which is bigger, and is one better? Let’s run through the numbers.
Glastonbury is held in the sleepy Somerset village of Pilton which is home to approximately 1,000 residents.
It’s official location is Worthy Farm, and the festival sprawls out across 150 acres of land with a population of 50 cows and a whopping seven stages to facilitate the OG’s of rock and in recent years, media savvy politicians.
It hosts roughly 210,000 attendees each year, a considerable increase in the general populace.
From The Killers in 2019 to Jeremy Corbyn’s eponymous performance on Pyramid stage in 2017, Glastonbury has seen it all.
So whilst Glastonbury has hosted the big names of rock and politics, is it bigger than Coachella?
The simple answer is yes. Glastonbury is the largest greenfield festival in the world.
But Coachella Festival is of equal acclaim. Think golden hour sunshine, crochet tops, knee-high boots and a lot of glitter – Coachella is the festival that breeds envy on Instagram.
So whilst Glastonbury provides the authentic grime experience, Coachella is quite the opposite in providing a touch of glamour to what is ultimately seen as camping.

It was set up in 1999 and is located in Southern California. According to Forbes it is the fifth most popular music festival with a draw of 198,000 people.
Of those numbers, attendees have included Leonardo DiCaprio, Kylie Jenner, Paris Hilton and many more.
Irrespective of size, both Glastonbury and Coachella are the ultimate festival experience. And it is certainly one to tick off the bucket list if you get the chance.
