Hitting five million subscribers cements their status as the UK’S biggest independent music platform
GRM DAILY have reached the major five-million YouTube subscriber milestone, cementing their status as one of the most-watched music channels in the world.
Having dedicated more than a decade to championing the best in British talent, the platform has notched up over six billion views across more than 200 countries since its launch in 2009.
Through their innovative content and commitment to culture, GRM Daily has become the global epicentre of everything UK Rap, renowned as both a launchpad for emerging artists and a home from home for the country’s biggest stars.
To celebrate the milestone, GRM Daily have joined forces with some of the UK’s biggest names from Ghetts, Potter Payper, Krept & Konan, Blade Brown, K- Trap and more, to produce a series of exclusive new content set to roll out daily over the next week.
Kicking off with Ghetts’ Daily Duppy, which premiered yesterday, this amplified version of British Rap’s number one freestyle show will also see Blade & K Trap, Mercston, Potter Payper, Scorcher and LD deliver their own freestyles throughout the week.
GRM Daily founder Post enthused: “I’m grateful to see how far we have come and excited to know where we are going.
“To celebrate this milestone, it was only right to welcome some of the artists that have contributed to our channel’s growth with an amplified version of our staple show Daily Duppy.
“Daily Duppy has grown to be one of the biggest freestyle shows in the world and we are more than proud that it’s a part of the GRM Daily brand.”
Speaking on why Daily Duppy has seen some of the biggest artists in the UK take part since its inception in 2010, Ghetts said: “Daily Duppy is for somebody like me who’s a wordsmith, I guess that was the first time we could actually really break it down and see how the thought process was being broken down, so for me that was just like a dream come true and somewhere to call home for somebody that does what I do. No one was breaking it down like that.”
Potter Payper added: “The Daily Duppy platform it is the most standout standalone fundamental piece of content and it’s the benchmark. In the new Daily Duppy, I say ‘I don’t set the bar, I am the bar’. For this.
“GRM they don’t set the bar they are the bar you get me so big up everyone at GRM, congratulations and thank you so much for helping me from the beginning to now.”
Additional, never-seen-before content featured on GRM Daily to mark its milestone week will also include new editions of stable content series ‘Crep Checks’ and ‘Car Checks’, alongside a commemorative video documenting monumental moments from GRM’s history.
Since its inception GRM Daily has documented the evolving sound of UK rap, (from hip-hop and Grime to Drill), helping stars reach a global audience.
Last year Tion Wayne and Russ Millions’ Body Remix, which was uploaded exclusively to GRM Daily, closed out 2021 as the UK’s most viewed music video of the year, after notching up over 64 million views and climbing to number one in the Official UK Singles Chart.
From their ground-breaking story documented in the 2020 YouTube Originals series TOGETHER WE RISE to hosting The Rated Awards, one of Britain’s premier Music Award ceremonies, GRM Daily have been an unparalleled influence across both mainstream and underground culture in the UK and beyond.
“GRM is more than just a YouTube channel,” says Sheniece Charway, Artist Relations Manager, YouTube Music.
“It’s a cultural institution and a staple of Black British music today.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate this momentous milestone and continue our longstanding support of GRM as they in turn champion generations young and old. Here’s to the next five million and beyond.”
Having dedicated more than a decade to championing the best in British talent, the GRM Daily platform has notched up over six billion views across more than 200 countries since its launch in 2009.
