MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Heartache, anger, and a search for answers.
A day after rap artist Young Dolph was shot and killed while buying cookies at a Memphis bakery, hundreds of people returned to the scene of the crime to pay their respects.

Throughout the day, a memorial grew as people from all over the city came to pay their respects. Many of them were also local rap artists and musicians.
“We lost an icon in Memphis. We lost an icon, someone that means something dearly to our city,” Memphis resident A. Diddy said.

“I’m just trying to call on some officials, not just officials but some people in our community that has some influence on our youth,” he said. “This is just a hurting time in Memphis, Tennessee.”

Tom Skeemask, who is also well-known in the Memphis rap community, is spearheading that change.
He’s organizing a meeting for all Memphis rappers and community members to attend this weekend to discuss ways to stop the violence.

“To see a young brother I watched come up from the bottom and for this to happen, it’s not right, it’s not fair, and we got to change,” Skeemask said.
As for whoever is responsible for Dolph’s death, the community members have a message.
“I hope God can forgive you for this,” A. Diddy said. “You took away a father or a brother or a husband, someone away from who they truly love.”
